Flag of Iran

The flag of Iran is in its present form valid since July 29, 1980 and reflects the changes that Iran has undergone since the Islamic Revolution.

Description

The flag consists of three equal horizontal stripes: green top, white in the middle and red on the bottom. This green symbolizes Islam, white peace and friendship and courage and red blood spilled in the war. The colors have a long tradition that can be traced back at least to the 18th century in Persia. As tricolor they find themselves for the first time on the national flag of 1906.

In the center is the emblem of Iran. It has a diameter which corresponds to seventh length of the flag. In addition, the green and the red stripe to 22 ( 2 × 11 ) Kufic lettering of Allahu Akbar were ( German: God is greatest ) supplements. This is a reference to the beginning of the Islamic Revolution on the 22nd day of the 11th month of the Iranian calendar (February 11, 1979).
