Flag of Nepal

The current flag of Nepal was officially adopted on 16 December 1962 as the national flag. Traditionally, it was used in different variations 200 years before.

Importance

The color blue symbolizes peace. Carmine is the Nepalese national color. Crescent and star symbolize the royal house, the sun, however, the aristocratic Rana dynasty, which long dominated the country de facto Prime Minister and the items held hereditary. Today, these symbols stand for the hope that the nation might last as long as have the heavenly bodies. The two lobes represent the peaks of the Himalayas.

Form

The flag is the only national flag in the world that does not have the shape of a rectangle.

The unusual shape of this flag was created 100 years ago, when two pennants were combined to form a flag. The constitutional amendment of 1962, the faces were removed from the moon and the sun. The red interior of the flag stands in a precise 3:4 aspect ratio. Including the blue edge is then given an aspect ratio of the bounding rectangle flag to 1:1,21901 ....

On 9 November 1990, the Constitution of Nepal has added a detailed guide to the geometric design of the flag, which works by using only a compass and a ruler.

The article describes the procedure to construct the flag on crimson cloth, starting from the baseline (width) and height. The height is defined as 4/3 of the width.
