Flag of Niger

The flag of Niger was officially launched on 23 November 1959.

Description and significance

The flag is like the Indian flag consists of three horizontal stripes in green, white and orange, the colors are different. In the middle of the white stripe of the Niger performs an orange sun disc in the center.

The colors have the following meaning:

  • Orange symbolizes the Sahara Desert, which is found in the north and east of the country
  • Green stands for hope and grass plains in the south and west
  • White is a sign of innocence and " purity of the Nation", it also expresses the good conscience of those who have done their duty towards the nation.

The sun in the middle strip shows the willingness of the people to sacrifice themselves in defense of his rights.

The freak flag proportion is controversial: in the flag Regulation Actes du Governement de la Republique du Niger No, 59-1 neither proportion nor wheel diameter is controlled.
