Flag of Sierra Leone

The flag of Sierra Leone was adopted by the country's independence on 27 April 1961.

Description and significance

The national flag consists of three equal horizontal stripes: green top, white in the middle and blue below.

The color green symbolizes agriculture, mountains and natural resources of the country. White stands for unity and justice, and the color blue represents the hope that the natural harbor of the capital Freetown bar a contribution to peace in the world.
