Flag of South Australia
The flag of South Australia was introduced on 13 January 1904. It is a version of the British Blue Ensign with the badge of the state in the fly. The emblem shows a yellow disc a native bird, the Piping Shrike (flute bird, Gymnorhina tibicen leuconata ) with outstretched wings.
Earlier flags
1870 South Australia had introduced the first flag. She was also a modified Blue Ensign. On the black disc in the fly, the constellation of the Southern Cross was mapped.
1876 led the colony a new flag, a badge with an altered. This was the arrival of Britannia (a woman with a golden robe and a shield in his hand, representing the settlers ) and their encounter with a person sitting on a rock Aborigine ( a spear in his hand ). On the rock a kangaroo incised was visible. The British Colonial Office had a change required because the design had too great a resemblance to the flag of Victoria and the flag of New Zealand.
