Flag of the Australian Capital Territory

The flag of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT ) differs markedly from those of the Australian states, as it is not a variant of the British Blue Ensign. It points to the city of Canberra colors, blue and gold (these also correspond to the heraldic colors of Australia ).

On the blue box at the leech of the Southern Cross is in blue displayed in the middle of the golden flight portion of the modified coat of arms of the Australian Capital Territory and the City of Canberra. The exact colors are Pantone 123 or PMS 116 ( gold ) and Pantone 293 or PMS 287 ( blue).

Although the ACT was founded in 1911 and in 1989 was granted the right to self-government, it did not have its own flag. Therefore, the Legislative Council decided to introduce. 1988 and 1992 design competitions were conducted. Victorious was finally the design of Ivo Ostyn, reminiscent in appearance to the flag of the Northern Territory. The Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly, the Legislative Council, led the flag in 1993.
