Flag of the Republic of the Congo
The flag of the Republic of Congo was originally introduced on 18 August 1959, restored after a phase with a socialist flag embossed on June 10, 1991.
Importance
The national flag is held in the Pan-African colors:
- Red stands for the freedom struggle
- Yellow symbolizes the natural wealth of nature
- Green stands for the nature of the country
Historic Flag
In 1968 Major Marien Ngouabi new president. He walked to the Congo in 1969 in a People's Republic in order and leaned politically to the Soviet Union. With the disintegration of the USSR in 1991 the Congo became a republic again and the flag was changed again to that of 1959.
The flag was introduced in 1970 and is very similar to the flag of the Soviet Union.
- Red and the five-pointed star stand for socialism.
- The hammer symbolizes the working class and the hoe farmers, they crossed to represent their union, as depends on them the prosperity of the country.
- The branches symbolize the nature of the land and peace.
The occurring in the flag colors of red, yellow and green also still available for the pan-African colors.
