Flag of Uganda

The flag of Uganda is based on the black-yellow- red colors of the Uganda People's Congress was founded in 1960, emerged from the elections in 1962 as the strongest party. The design is by Justice Minister Grace Ibingira, where the colors indicate the following:

  • Black represents the people in Africa,
  • Yellow symbolizes the sun,
  • Red expresses the brotherhood of man.

The Crowned Crane was chosen as a neutral state emblem since it was not used by any of the previous kingdoms and tribes before. The flag was officially hoisted on October 9, 1962.
