Flag of Western Australia

The flag of Western Australia was introduced on 27 November 1875, and is a variant of the British Blue Ensign with the state badge in the fly.

The badge shows a golden disk a black swan, looking towards Liekseite. The Black Swan, namesake and typical bird of the Swan River at least since the 1830s, the symbol of Western Australia. The first settlement, today's Perth, was named after the Swan River Settlement ( settlement on the Swan River ).

Former flag

1870, the first flag was introduced in Western Australia, which was almost identical to the present. The only difference was that the Swan looking in the other direction. The direction of the swan was changed according to the vexillogischen guidelines, according to which animals must always look towards the leech on flags.
