Flag of Western Sahara

The flag of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic ( Arabic: علم الجمهورية العربية الصحراوية الديمقراطية ) ( Western Sahara ) is black in the pan-Arab colors, white, kept green and red, and is the flag of freedom movement Polisario Front.

  • Black represents death
  • White symbolizes peace
  • Green stands for life

Crescent and Star refer to Islam. Perhaps these are based on the flag of Algeria since the POLISARIO was originally closely aligned to the Algerian regime.

The special thing about this flag is that the leech right instead of left is equipped ( according to the Arabic script from right to left), and the back without crescent and star. However, the flag is often shown in the mirrored version. Rumors report that at international recognition, the flag is turned upside down, so that will then be green top and black bottom.

The flag was officially introduced to the proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic Sahara on 27 February 1976.
