Flagey-Rigney
Flagey- Rigney is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.
Geography
Flagey- Rigney is on 247 m, about 25 km northeast of the city of Besançon (air line). The village stretches along the edge of the Talniederung Ognon opposite Munans, amid the rolling countryside in the extreme northwest of the Doubs.
The area of 3.03 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Ognon Valley. The northern boundary runs along the Ognon, the large river bends here flows through a flat Talniederung, which is about one kilometer wide. From the river, the municipality's area extends south across the wide flood plain adjacent to the high terrace which consists of glacial river deposits. The southern part of the municipality is occupied by the gently undulating landscape that is passed partly under arable and meadow land, partly by forest. With 282 m is reached on a hill in the Bois de la Bussière the highest elevation of Flagey - Rigney.
Neighboring communities of Flagey - Rigney are Loulans - Verchamp and Larians -et- Munans in the north, Cendrey to the east, La Tour -de- Sçay in the south and Germondans in the West.
Population
With 82 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Flagey- Rigney is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. Throughout the 20th century, the population moved always in the range between 50 and 80 people.
Economy and infrastructure
Flagey- Rigney was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.
The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road, leading from Germondans after Cendrey. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 14 km.
