Honshu pipefish ( Doryrhamphus japonicus )

The flags tail pipefish ( Doryrhamphinae ) have as a mark of their subfamily a more or less large, banded or striped and often drawn with bright bold colors caudal fin. The pattern is typical for the respective kinds flags tail pipefish, 5.5 and 20 cm long.

Most species live in the sea, in the tropical region of the Indo-Pacific region, only in the waters south of Australia and Japan, there are also deposits in temperate areas. Doryichthys species are also found in coastal freshwater. Flag tail pipefish usually live in pairs in caves, under Riffüberhängen and protection of coral blocks, feed on small crustaceans and also clean other fish.
