Flarchheim

Flarchheim is a municipality of the administrative community Unstrut Hainich in Thuringia Unstrut Hainich.

Geography

The village lies at an altitude 200-225 m above sea level. NN on the southeastern edge of the Hainich. Through the town flows from southwest to northeast in the springing Hainich Oak Brook, near the east of the village Suthbach with the Rispelbach is called after the confluence and a little later right hand flows into the Unstrut. The place is nestled in a gently rolling hills. The near-surface geological substrate is formed of limestones and clays of the Keuper, where a loess layer is superposed. The fertile soils in the area are almost exclusively plowed. In the southwest Flarchheim has a large proportion of the forests of the Hainich. History

The stone box of Flarchheim is a 1.55 m length and 1.02 m width of the Globular plant, which is now in the local museum Mulhouse. The names ending in- home points to a Franconian establishment. 980 the village was first mentioned in a document of the monastery of Fulda. On January 27, 1080 it comes to the battle of Flarchheim in the course of Saxony War of King Henry IV and Vratislav II of Bohemia.

Flarchheim 1687 was affected by witch hunts. Esaias Finke, a former pastor in Flarchheim, and a daughter came in witch trials.

Beginning of the 1960s must Flarchheim sell in the West to build up the military training area " Weberstedt " to the National People's Army, a large part of his district.   • The landmark Flarchheims was planted around 1909 avenue of poplars on the local access road to Oppershausen. The poplars were for reasons of traffic safety in 2007 and 2008 likes replaced by an avenue of cypress oaks.
