Flatboat

A flat boat is a boat type that instead of a keel has a flat bottom. Due to the flattening of the lower hull profile, the navigability is possible in shallow waters. The immersion depth of the hull ( hull ) is therefore lower than if a keel would be present. In northern Germany, this type of boat was to the 19th century, mainly used in the transport of the engraved in the bogs peat over the channels specially created. The tunnel was carried out by the Punting by hand. In the 18th century this type of boat was used for military purposes.
