Flatland: The Movie is a film adaptation of which appeared in 1884 book Flatland by Edwin Abbott Abbott. In 2012, a sequel was titled Flatland ²: Sphereland.

Action

The movie is about the inhabitants of Flatland, a Planiversum. The people in the film are regular polygons, where the number of vertices representing the social rank. To make triangles social underclass, squares the middle class, etc. ..

One night, the stars of the movie, A Square, a dream of a one-dimensional world. In this world points and the different time lines live on a straight line. A Square tries to explain to the king of the world, the principle of two dimensions, but encounters ignorance.

A short time later, a mysterious visitor from the third dimension in Flatland appears. This takes A Square with the three-dimensional world, and give him a mandate to spread the gospel of the third dimension.

As A Square tries to spread the message of a third dimension in his two-dimensional world, he is persecuted as heretics.
