Flavius Manlius Theodorus
Flavius Mallius Theodorus (also Flavius Manlius Theodorus ) was a Roman politician and writer who has lived to 399.
Life
In the year 399 Mallius held the consulate. He was a Christian and author, among many lost writings on various subjects (philosophy, astronomy, and geometry ) of a preserved work on metrics ( De metris ), which is considered one of the best of its kind (H. Keil, Grammatici Latini, VI, p 585 -601. ).
The panegyric of Claudian According sealed in his honor Manlius began his career as an advocate at the court of a praetorian prefect. Later he was praeses a district in Africa, governor ( consularis ) of the province Macedonia, magister epistularum Gratian and finally comes sacrarum largitionum. 382/83 was Mallius Praetorian Prefect by Gallian, then in the years 397/99 and probably again 408/ 09 Praetorian Prefect Italiae.
Augustine of Hippo dedicated to him his treatise De beata vita 386.
