Fleming County, Kentucky

Fleming County is a county located in the state of Kentucky in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Flemingsburg. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in northeastern Kentucky, is located in the north about 30 miles from Ohio and has an area of 910 square kilometers, of which two square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Mason County, Lewis County, Rowan County, Bath County, Nicholas County and Robertson County.

History

Fleming County was formed on February 10, 1798 from parts of Mason County. It was named after Colonel John Fleming, an early settler in the area.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Fleming County 13,792 people in 5,367 households and 3,966 families. The population density was 15 people per square kilometer.
