Fletcher FL-23

The Fletcher FL -23 is a two-seat liaison and observation aircraft from the American manufacturer Fletcher Aviation.

History and construction

The Fletcher FL -23 was designed as a competition of the U.S. Army for a new liaison and observation aircraft of the California-based Fletcher Aviation. The FL -23 was a cantilever high-wing monoplane with fixed tricycle landing gear and was powered by a 225 hp Continental E225 piston engine. The machine had room for the pilot and an observer on tandem seats in an unusual large acrylic glass cockpit to give the observer the best possible visibility.

In the course of the competition, however, the tail broke off, so that the machine was badly damaged and had to be withdrawn. The Cessna 305A went out of the competition as the winner.
