Fleurete's sportive lemur

The Fleurete - Lemur ( Lepilemur fleuretae ) is a living primate in Madagascar from the group of lemurs within the lemurs. The species was first described in 2006, the name honors Fleurette Andriantsilavo, former general secretary of the Malagasy Ministry of the Environment.

Features

Fleurete - lemurs reach a body length 23-27 cm, a tail length of about 30 centimeters and a weight of 0.8 to 1.1 kilograms. Their fur is predominantly gray colored, arms and legs are reddish. The belly is light gray to light brown, the tail is red-gray and darker towards the tip. The head is rounded, the eyes are enlarged as an adaptation to the nocturnal lifestyle and surrounded by white boxes.

Dissemination and lifestyle

These lemurs inhabit the primary and secondary rain forests in southeastern Madagascar. Probably formed by the rivers Mandrare in the west and in the north Mananara the limits of their range.

Fleurete - lemurs, like all lemurs nocturnal and usually stay up in the trees. Otherwise, little is known about their way of life. Like all lemurs, they are likely to primarily vertical climbing and jumping move and vegetable, leaves, fruit, flowers and other things to feed.

Endangering

Little is known also about the level of danger of this newly discovered species. The IUCN lists it under "too little data available " ( data deficient ).
