Fljótshlíð

Fljótshlíð ( German river slope ) is an area in southern Iceland. There used to be a rural community with this name ( Isl Fljótshlíðarhreppur ). It is absorbed into the community Rangárþing eystra 2002.

Fljótshlíð lies east of town Hvolsvöllur and north of the rivers Þverá and Markarfljót.

It is known that area of the Brennu Njal saga. The farm Hlíðarendi by Gunnar Hámundarson stood here. Even today, the farmstead is known.
