Flock (web browser)

Flock (English for herd, flock ) is a free web browser on the code base of Chromium, formerly on the codebase of Mozilla Firefox. The developers of the browser call him a " social browser " ( "social browser" ), which means that he is a Social software is able to simplify the use of popular social networking services.

The further development of the browser has been set for the 26th April 2011 and the company is dedicated to along with Zynga game development.

Version features

In the version 1.0 Flock is distinguishable by the following features of Firefox 2.0:

  • Favorites can be tagged.

The version 2.0 is based on the codebase of Mozilla Firefox 3.0 and provides the following additional features:

  • An improved bookmark system with the support of the online bookmark service ma.gnolia
  • Better management of multiple concurrent online services and in existing contacts
  • A revised media for viewing pictures and videos
  • Easier handling of a large number of feeds

The current version 3.0 is no longer based on the Firefox code base, but on Chromium.

  • Default search engine is Google now (before Yahoo! )
  • Has a timeline in the right sidebar for Twitter, Facebook and Flickr
  • Supports lists and merging contacts from Twitter, Facebook and YouTube

The company " Flock"

Bart Decrem and Geoffrey Arone established the company in Round Two, which they do in Flock renamed ( according to their main product) in 2005. The company is based in Redwood, California.
