Flocoumafen is a toxic chemical compound from the group of hydroxycoumarin derivatives, which is used as the rodent toxin.
Production and representation
As can be obtained from brodifacoum flocoumafen by similar synthesis but which Trifluormethylmethyloxybenzol 4 is used instead of the first synthesis step Diphenylbromid.
Properties
Flocoumafen is a colorless solid which is insoluble in water. The technical product is a mixture of the cis and trans forms of the compound, wherein the industrial product 50% to 80 % of the cis- and 20 % is found to 50 % of the trans isomer. The compound is stable with respect to hydrolysis.
Use
Flocoumafen is a second generation anticoagulant, which is used as a rodenticide.
