Flogging Molly

Flogging Molly (English " Molly auspeitschend " or " The whipping Molly ") is an Irish- American folk - punk rock band from Los Angeles, United States. Band History

A native of Dublin Dave King was in his youth the " Number -One Fan" of the folk -tinged heavy metal band Mama 's Boys, which gave the Irish Folk even more space later than Celtus. The first album Alive Behind the Green Door was recorded in the pub Molly Malone's in Los Angeles in 1997 and launched in self-distribution in order to bring money into the band fund. In 2005 the album was re-released by SideOneDummy Records. In the period between 1997 and 2001 made ​​some changes in the line-up. The final line-up, which until January 2007 had on hand, was: Dave King, Bridget Regan, Dennis Casey, Matt Hensley ( a pro skater ), Nathen Maxwell, George Schwindt, and Robert Schmidt. After contracting with Side One Dummy Records in 2000, he produced the Steve Albini album Swagger, which was released in Europe on the Swedish label Burning Heart Records. With the Drunken Lullabies finished in 2002, the band 2002 to place 157 on the Billboard charts was able to place the successor Within a Mile of Home succeeded in 2004 to No. 20 and No. 1 on the Billboard Indie charts.

In early 2007 Matt Hensley left the band to spend more time with his family. He was replaced during live performances during this period from PJ Smith and Damien O'Merril. In the fall of 2007, Matt returned to the band and can be heard on the album Float, which was released on March 4, 2008.
