Flond

Flond ( [ flɔn ]? / I ) until 31 December 2008, a municipality in the district of the circle Ilanz Surselva the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.

January 1, 2009 merged with Flond Surcuolm the political community Mundaun.

Coat of arms

Description: silver ( white ) on green plate foot a red Getreidehiste. For Flond no useful Siegel model for the coat of arms was present, so that the characteristic of the place Histe was used to dry the harvested grain as a motive.

Geography

The town is located on a terrace on the high plateau of Obersaxen between the bottom of the Anterior Rhine in the north and the Piz Mundaun. Of the total area of 209 ha community 108 acres of woods and forests are covered. More 85 ha is arable and 16 acres are built-up area.

The former municipality of Flond borders Ilanz, luffing, Obersaxen, Rueun and Surcuolm.

Population

Demographics

The population counted in the second half of the 19th century, with the exception of 1860 and 1870 ( upward deflection ) is always around the 190 residents. In the first decade of the 20th century there was a mass exodus ( 1900-1910: - 17%), which was until 1941 partially reversed by a population growth. From 1941 to 1980, there was a second wave of migration ( 1941-1980: - 38%). Through the expansion of tourism, this development could be turned into its opposite. Since 1970, the population increased by 84%.

Languages

To date, the population of the municipality still speaks mostly in Romansh idiom Sursilvan. In the 19th century the church was Romanesque monolingual and remained so until the middle of the 19th century. Official language of the church is Romanesque.

In 1990, 12 people Portuguese as their primary language.

Religions - faiths

Flond took in 1526 to the Reformed doctrine that dominated for centuries. By leaving the church and immigration, the religious conditions have changed in the last decades. 2000, there were 70 % Evangelical Protestant and 22 % Roman Catholics. In addition, one finds 6% non-religious. 2% of the population did not respond to their creed.

Origin - Nationality

From the end of 2004 205 inhabitants were 199 Swiss citizens. At the last census were 177 Swiss, including five dual citizen. The few immigrants came mainly from Denmark.

Traffic

Flond is by public transport by postal bus lines well developed ( Ilanz - St.Martin and Ilanz - Surcuolm ). Between Ilanz and Chur you can use the train, known as the Glacier Express.

The council consisted of five persons elected for two years. Last mayor was Peter Inauen.

Attractions

Monumental is the Protestant church.
