Florac

Florac is a commune in the Lozère department in the Languedoc- Roussillon region. It is located in the southern Massif Central in the Cevennes on altitude of 549 meters and has 1963 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). The highest mountain of the Cevennes, Lozere, located about 20 km northeast of the community. In Florac begins below the confluence of the Tarn and the upper Tarnon 40 km long deep-cut system of the Gorges du Tarn, which can be driven even by beginners in a canoe. It is a central locality for canoeing and outdoor tourism in the region with numerous recreational opportunities.
