Florange

Florange ( German: Flörchingen ) is a commune with 11,472 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the Florange Fensch, about six kilometers south-west of Thionville.

History

Florange was first mentioned in the ninth century as Flori King; In the 16th century it was known as Fleur Anges. By the Treaty of the Pyrenees Florange came to France in 1659.
