Florence Barsosio

Florence Barsosio ( born August 11, 1976) is a Kenyan long-distance runner.

At the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 1995 she placed 13th in the 5,000 -meter run.

After that, she specialized in the marathon. In 2000, she won the Turin Marathon and finished fifth at the New York City Marathon in her personal best time of 2:27:00.

The following year she won the Prague Half Marathon and the Paris Marathon and finished sixth in the marathon in the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton. In 2004 she won the Madrid and the Florence Marathon and was second in the Dublin Marathon; 2005 also runner-up in Paris and won the Vienna City Marathon.

Her younger sister Sally is the 10,000 - meter world champion in 1997. Her uncle Paul Koech is a successful long distance runner.
