Florence is a city in Lane County in the U.S. state of Oregon, which lies on the Pacific.

The city had according to an estimate in 2006 a population of 8,270. Founded as a fish net and timber port, is today mainly tourism is the most important economic sector.

Attractions

About the Siuslaw River spans an elegant bridge with Art Deco motifs. Below the bridge, the restored old town with old houses and plank roads.

North of Florence is the only seven -acre Darlingtonia Botanical Wayside, the only protected area of Oregon, which is dedicated to only one type, namely the carnivorous cobra lily. South of Florence extends the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area and north is the Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park.

On November 12, 1970, the place was known by a Walexplosion an 8 -ton sperm whale stranded.
