Floresta (Buenos Aires)

Floresta is a district west of the center of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires. He has nearly 40,000 inhabitants (as of 2001) on an area of 2.4 km ².

Location

In the north, Monte Castro joins, to the east of Flores, in the south of Parque Avellaneda and in the West Villa Luro.

History

Today Floresta neighborhood was built around a railway station around, which was opened on August 29, 1857. It was the first railway connection of Argentina, which led here from the now-defunct station " Plaza Del Parque " in Buenos Aires. As a reminder, it is held annually on 29 August the Stadtteiltag.

1914, created the " Avellaneda Park" on a plot of land that belonged previously to a monastery. The Italian immigrant Felix Barabino built in Floresta, a house that was the most impressive of the district at that time. Today there is the Historical Society Floresta housed who maintains a library there.

Sports

In Floresta is the football club " Club Atlético All Boys ' home, who plays at the Estadio Islas Malvinas. Originally, the Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield was located here. He moved to Liniers.
