Floriade (Netherlands)

The Floriade is a World Horticultural Expo, which takes place every ten years in the Netherlands.

Floriade 2002

2002 found the Floriade in Harlemmermeer held in Amsterdam. The motto was Feel the art of nature.

Broken down, the park has three sections:

Floriade 2012

Floriade 2012 took place in the Venlo region from 5 April to 7 October. The central theme was: Be part of the theater in nature; get closer to the quality of life.

  • Arnhem
  • Drechtsteden ( around Dordrecht )
  • North West 8 ( a coalition of organizations in the region around Alkmaar, Hoorn and Den Helder )
  • Venlo region ( awarded the contract )

  • District of Amsterdam North

The Floriade site on the A73 is 66 acres in size and more than twice as large as that of the Federal Garden Show 2011 in Koblenz. The organizers are expecting 2.5 million visitors (compared to the Federal Horticultural Show Koblenz 3.5 million ), half of them from Germany (for example, from the nearby Ruhr area ).

The Floriade Park consists of five subject areas that are separated from each other by forest:

  • "Relax & Heal " ( relaxing and healing),
  • " Green Engine " ( Green Engine )
  • "Education and Innovation" (Education and Innovation),
  • " Environment" ( environment) and the
  • " World Show Stage ", an open event arena.

The " Innovation Tower " at the input and the glass ' Flora Villa " should continue to be used after the show as a corporate headquarter.

The site can be reached by public transport or by car. If you travel by train to, you can use from the Venlo train station a shuttle bus to the Floriade, which runs every 15 minutes. Motorists are routed via the control system to a pay parking, from which one is contacted with a shuttle bus to the reception area. The fare is included in the parking fee of 10 euros.
