Florian Johann Deller

Florian Johann Deller ( baptized on 2 May 1729 Drossendorf an der Thaya (Lower Austria ), † September 19, 1773 in Munich) was a German - Austrian composer and violinist.

Life

In 1751, he came as a violinist in the court orchestra in Stuttgart. Here he was taught at the head of the local Court Opera Niccolo Jommelli. Later he became assistant to the ballet master Jean Georges Noverre, and composed first opera music as well as ballets. In 1769 he was appointed concertmaster and " Hofcompositeur " at the Stuttgart court. A short time later he went to Vienna, where he worked at the city's Burgtheater. Deller died in 1773 at the monastery of the Brothers of Charity in Munich.

Work

His compositional work consists mainly of opera, ballet music, sonatas and minuets. He enjoyed during his lifetime as a composer high reputation. His works were, inter alia, estimated by Mozart and Christian Friedrich Daniel Schubart. Many of his works listed as missing.
