Florian Ungler

Florian Ungler (* unknown, † 1536 in Kraków ) was a printer and publisher of the first books in Polish.

When and where Ungler was born, is not recorded, but we know that he came in 1510 from Bavaria to Krakow where he established his first printing workshop. He printed and published numerous high-quality books, including

Although he mastered his craft and his excellent products of the highest typographical quality were, he could hardly earn a livelihood with a printer, even had to give up his workshop temporary and hired himself to John Haller. Overall Ungler had published until then about 80 positions. 1521, he again tried his luck with a separate, newly established printing workshop and gave until his death ( 1536) 166 more books out. After his death, his wife Helena led the workshop to continue in 1551.
