Florida Everblades

The Florida Everblades are an American ice hockey team from Estero, Florida. The team plays in the ECHL since 1998.

History

The Florida Everblades were founded in 1998 as a franchise of the East Coast Hockey League. Already in its first year, the team reached the ECHL playoffs, where they future champion Mississippi Sea Wolves defeated after a bye and a victory over the Birmingham Bulls until the third round for the first time. His most successful period to date had the franchise from Florida from 2003 to 2005, when they reached in a row under the Canadian coach and former NHL player Gerry Fleming the playoff final for the Kelly Cup twice. In both finals but they lost to the enemy - first the Idaho Steelheads, and then the Trenton Titans.

In June 2010, Greg Poss was introduced as the head coach of the Florida Everblades. Since the 2010/11 season, the Everblades are the farm team of the Tampa Bay Lightning. In the season 2011/12 the Everblades won on their route to the first Kelly Cup winning history, all eleven home games during the finals and defeated in the final series to the ECHL Championship also the Las Vegas Wranglers with 4-1 victories after the franchise from Florida had previously also significantly Greenville Road Warriors, Elmira Jackals and Kalamazoo Wings defeated. The decisive goal for the initial triumph achieved striker Brandon MacLean in the fifth game of the final series during the extension. Goalkeeper John Muse subsequently received the award handed as most valuable player in the playoffs.
