Florida Senate

The Senate of Florida (Florida State Senate ) is the upper house of the Florida Legislature, the legislature of the U.S. state of Florida.

The chamber of parliament is composed of 40 Senators representing an electoral district in each case. The senators are elected for four -year terms; limiting the terms of office does not exist. Usually, all the senators in odd districts in the years that are divisible by four, chosen specifically with the U.S. presidential elections. The senators in the even districts are elected in the same time as the current elections in Florida. In the years that end with a two, all Senators are elected. Thus, the senators were elected in odd-numbered districts in 2002 for a two year term. But the Senators are elected in the even numbered districts in 2012 for a two year term.

The Senate and the House of Representatives of Florida are both aligned to the respective population size in the geographic areas. Although exactly three times as many MPs are in the House of Representatives (120 ) than in the Senate ( 40) Senate districts are not composed of three representatives districts. The limits are independent.

The meeting room of the Senate is located together with the House of Representatives in the Florida State Capitol in the capital Tallahassee.

Tasks of the Senate

The Senate from Florida in the fall as upper houses of other states and territories, as well as in the U.S. Senate compared to the House of Representatives special tasks that go beyond the law. For Majority Leader ( Majority leader) Republican Andy Gardiner, 9 constituency, was elected; Leader of the opposition (minority leader) is the Democrat Nan Rich, 34th constituency.
