Florida State Road A1A

The Florida State Road A1A (short FL A1A ​​) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Florida, which runs in a south-north direction. It runs mostly in close to the coast along the east coast of the state.

Route

The State Road begins in Key West in Monroe County and leads to a short section of the Overseas Highway, together with U.S. Highway 1 to Marathon. Then the route is interrupted as A1A to Miami. Only the MacArthur Causeway from Miami to Miami Beach leads again this term. The road then leads to a few exceptions, on barrier islands between the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean on the coast of Florida along. Exceptions are a section in Fort Lauderdale, another section of West Palm Beach to Riviera Beach, Jupiter to Stuart in Fort Pierce and Cocoa to Daytona Beach. In these cases, the route of the U.S. Highway 1 (SR 5) is often not identical. In Jacksonville St. Johns River is crossed by ferry. In Fernandina Beach, just before the border with Georgia, the road leaves the coast area and turns to the west. Continues across Yulee, crosses Interstate 95 and finally ending in Callahan in Nassau County.
