Floris the Black

Florence Black (* 1115, † October 26, 1133 ) was a Dutch Graf and rebel.

He was the son of Petronilla of Holland and Florentius II, Count of Holland. In a year-long war against his brother Dietrich VI. and the Bishop of Utrecht Andreas von Kuik out of the house Cuyk he fought on the side of the Friesians. He described himself as " Count of Friesland ". Under his command, destroyed the Frisians Haarlem. Emperor Lothar III. ordered the cessation of hostilities. Florence instead fell into the area of the Cuyk and was killed during the feud by Godfrey I of Cuyk. The emperor, whose nephew was Florence, drew the Cuyks to the royal court in Cologne. Gottfried was temporarily banned and Bishop Andrew of Utrecht was punished.
