The Flossach is a 20.5 km long right tributary of the Mindel. About this it is an indirect right tributary of the Danube in Bavaria.

Course

The 20.5 km long Flossach rises near the village Gerum, northwest of Türk home to 588 m above sea level. NN. The Flossach flows in a northwesterly direction through the waters for a size relatively broad valley to the north of it Hasberg ( Kirchheim in Schwaben) to approximately 522 m above sea level. Opens into the NN Mindel. In the last 0.2 km upstream of the mouth in the Mindel the Flossach flows through the district of Günzburg, another kilometer, it forms the border between the districts of Lower Allgäu and Günzburg. The difference in height between the source and the mouth is 65m.

Approximately 900 m below the mouth of Bach's Worth the Flossach divides into two branches. The Flossach flows through the towns and Tussenhausen Zaisertshofen, the other branch of the river, the Lettenbach or Lehnbach is called, flows through Mattsiesmühle - north of Mattsies - and along the airfield Mindelheim - Mattsies.

Below the confluence of the Flossach and the Latvians Bach east of Salgen and the moss Salgener the Flossachtal goes on in this area in the very broad Mindel. In this wide valley Flossach flows parallel to the Eastern Mindel still approx. 10,5 km to its confluence with the Mindel.

From the mouth of the Wörth Bach in the Flossach this together with the process of separation from her backwater Lettenbach and Weissbach (→ see below) is a second order waters.

Width of Flossachtals

The geological special on Flossachtal is that the valley is very broad. From a river the size of the Flossach it can not have been created. This can be explained this peculiarity in that the Wertach temporarily whole or in part, by the valleys of the Flossach and the Mindel towards the Danube flowed after the last ice age. Proof of this is that you can find in the Mindel stones, but do occur in the catchment area of the Mindel in the catchment area of Wertach. There are also between the valleys of Wertach and Flossach no ridge, as between other river valleys. Among geologists is the area in which the Flossachtal branches off from Wertachtal, therefore also known as Wertach fork.
