Floyd Council

Floyd Council ( born September 2, 1911 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina; † May 9, 1976 in Sanford, North Carolina) was an American blues guitarist, mandolin player and singer. In the 1930s he made with Blind Boy Fuller and solo recordings. On some boards, he is listed as " Blind Boy Fuller's buddy" ( Blind Boy Fuller's buddy ). Other recordings were released under the name " Dipper Boy Council" and " The Devil's Daddy- in-Law " ( the devil's father- ).

His career as a musician began on the streets of his hometown, where he played with friends. There he was discovered in 1937 by talent scout of a record company. He took over the following years, by its own account in a late interview, the 27 songs on. In the 1960s his career was abruptly stopped by a stroke. He died in 1976 in his birthplace.

The "Floyd " in Pink Floyd

Roger ' Syd ' Barrett put the name of his band Pink Floyd from the first names of Pink Anderson and Floyd Council, of whom he had read in the liner notes by Paul Oliver to published in the 1962 Blind Boy Fuller LP Philips BBL- 7512: " Curley Weaver and Fred McMullen, ( ... ) Pink Anderson or Floyd Council - thesis were a few amongst the many blues singers thatwere to be heard in the rolling hills of the Piedmont, or meandering with the streams through the wooded valleys ".
