Floyd County (Indiana)

Floyd County is a county located in the state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is New Albany.

Geography

The County is located in southern Indiana, bordered on the southwest by Kentucky and has an area of 384 square kilometers, of which one square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Clark County, Jefferson County (Kentucky), Harrison County and Washington County.

History

Floyd County was formed on January 2, 1819 from parts of Clark County and Harrison County. It was named a Colonel from Kentucky to John Floyd.
