Floyd County (Iowa)
The Floyd County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. In the census in 2010, the County had 16,303 inhabitants and a population density of 12.6 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat), Charles City.
Geography
The County is located in northeastern Iowa, is located in the north about 40 miles from Minnesota and has an area of 1,298 square kilometers, of which two square miles are water. It is bordered by the following counties:
History
The Floyd County was formed in 1851 from parts of the former Chickasaw County. It was named after Charles Floyd (1782-1804), a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

According to the census in 2010 lived in Floyd County 16,303 people in 6,642 households. The population density was 12.6 inhabitants per square kilometer.
The racial the population was composed of 95.8 percent white, 1.2 percent African American, 0.1 percent Native American, 1.3 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 0.8 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 2.0 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
