Fluid statics

Fluid statics is within the fluid mechanics, the theory of the behavior of the fluids that are approximately static, so there is at rest and no movement / flow run (speed = 0).

The counterpart for moving / flowing fluids, the fluid dynamics.

By type of fluid, the fluid statics is further divided into:

  • Hydrostatic for incompressible fluids (liquids)
  • Aerostatics for compressible fluids (gases), in particular air

Key aspects of fluid statics are the characteristics of the static pressure, the forces on tank walls and on the body in the fluid, in particular the static buoyancy, as well as the training of border areas.
