Flums
Flums
Flums is a medium-sized municipality in the constituency Sarganserland in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. Flums consists of three local churches Flums Village, Grossberg and Kleinberg.
Flums is primarily known for the skiing and hiking area Flumserberg. The latter is also in the municipality of fourths.

Traffic
Flums has good transport links. In addition to access to the A3 motorway, there are main roads that lead into the mountains and are connected to the Walenseestrasse.
In addition, there is a well-developed bus network. A bus route leading to whales city.
Something outside cities runs the railway bridge brick -Chur containing Flums at a railway station.
Tourism
The community has a large share of the Flumserbergen, which are a popular tourist attraction in winter and summer. In addition to hiking, there is also a large network of chairlifts and gondolas. One attraction is the imposing ruins of the castle Gräpplang.
Industry
Flums experienced an industrial boom about eighty years ago. Consequently many factories, including the known throughout Switzerland spinning Spoerry & Co. Ltd., the end of January 2009 emerged as one of Switzerland's last mills ceased operations.
The company Flumroc manufactures products made of stone wool for thermal and sound insulation.
The internationally operating company Bartholet Maschinenbau AG (BMF) provides cable cars manufactures of all kinds, leisure parks and other passenger transportation systems. The equipment for amusement parks are marketed by the subsidiary Swiss Rides AG.

Traditions
Carnival
In Flums are two carnival societies, namely the carnival company Flums and the Black Angels Flums.
The Black Angels are a traditional customs group. They consist of the male Butzi which are disguised as devils and the female Chrüterwyber. The head of the Black Angel is the reigning court jester. He is elected in October each of the old court jester as a proposal and suggested to the Cage Opened the carnival people in the basement of Postli. All wooden larvae ( wooden masks ) of the Black Angels are by Hugo Reichlin ( Jester Hugo I ) carved and partly over 50 years old. On the black angel goes back to the Carnival Monday for the students of Flums is no school for some time.
