Stickstofftrioxidfluorid is a chemical compound selected from the group consisting of nitric acid derivatives. It was first synthesized in 1934 by George Hamilton Cady.
Production and representation
Stickstofftrioxidfluorid can be obtained by reaction of nitric acid with fluorine.
Properties
Stickstofftrioxidfluorid is a colorless gas with a sickening dull smell, hydrolyzed with water to oxygen difluoride, oxygen, hydrogen fluoride and nitric acid. Due to strong vibrations it is placed in a liquid form to an explosion. It is readily soluble in acetone. With ethanol, ether and aniline it explodes immediately.
Safety
Stickstofftrioxidfluorid generated strong stinging in the nose, headache and difficulty breathing, stop for several days.
