Fluoroform ( CHF3 molecular formula ) is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic and non-flammable inert gas. Due to its structure ( CHX3 ) it is homologous to chloroform, bromoform and iodoform and analog named.
Representation
Fluoroform (HFC -23) is obtained in the production of chlorodifluoromethane, which is a starting material for the production of teflon, as a by- product. In the laboratory, it may be obtained from iodoform, and mercury (I ) fluoride, or chloroform, and hydrofluoric acid.:
Properties
Fluoroform is slow to react. It only reacts with strong oxidizing reagents.
Use
CHF3 is used as extinguishing and refrigerant as well as the process gas in the dry etching using.
Environment
