Fluroxypyr is a chemical compound selected from the group consisting of pyridine carboxylic acids.
Production and representation
Fluroxypyr may be obtained by reaction of 4 -amino-3 ,5- trichloro -6- fluoropyridine with sodium hydroxide, butyl chloroacetate, and hydrogen chloride.
Properties
Fluroxypyr is a white solid which is slightly soluble in water. It is stable to hydrolysis.
Use
Fluroxypyr is used as an active ingredient in pesticides. It is a systemic and selective herbicide of the class of growth substances, which is preferably used in the post-emergence.
The active substance fluroxypyr, was included in the European Union in 2000 for use as herbicide in the list of permitted pesticide active ingredients. After a temporary extension of authorization, the use of fluroxypyr in 2011 was re-authorized.
In Germany, Austria and Switzerland pesticides are approved with this drug.
