Fly is a song by the rapper Nicki Minaj in collaboration with the singer Rihanna. The song was by J. R. Red and Kevin Hissink produced and written by Kevin Hissink, W. Jordan, Onika Maraj, Jonathan Rotem, Clemm Rishad. It appeared on Nicki Minaj's debut album Pink Friday (2010).
Background
The song was produced by JR Rotem, who has already worked before with Britney Spears, Rick Ross and Leona Lewis. In an interview with MTV News Rotem explained that he came to only as a producer, because he has heard a few songs from Minaj's Pink Friday and have noticed how " inspiring" their works are. He explained: " We were almost at the end of their project, I came into the studio and I had a few songs [ for them ]. I was very excited. When I played the songs she knew: ' Yes, we need these songs for my album ,' then she was just as excited as I am, " Minaj heard the demo recording of the song and wanted to sing the song later with Rihanna together and rapping. . Rotem was also convinced of it and told Minaj: " ' That would be super, but to get Rihanna for your recording is easier said than done. ' I think that speaks for Nicki's star power. Criticism
The song was praised by most music critics, many described the song as " relaxed ". Robbie Daw from Idolator praised the song: " The Fly produced by JR Rotem is hopeful similar to ' I Believe I Can Fly ' for the new generation. Music Video
The music video for the song was filmed on January 7th 2011, directed by Sanaa Hamri.
