Characteristics and importance
Musical Style
The massive reorganization that has taken place since the publication of its predecessor Lonesome Crow (1972 ), was born on Fly to the Rainbow a completely different style than on the previous album. This was more focused on the experimentally by rather low -held vocals and wild, some improvisation-like structures titles. The style tended more toward Krautrock, but this release was much harder for this kind of music. On Fly to the Rainbow, however, you already found a more secure, more clearly defined and heavier sound, which can be classified as heavy rock is quite. In addition, the songs gain on their second album in some cases significantly catchiness (eg Speedy 's Coming, This is My Song), although it is not waived such pompous pieces like Fly to the Rainbow or Drifting Sun. Also, here takes on not only Klaus Meine single-handedly the main vocals. So guitarist Uli Jon Roth is to listen to and Drifting Sun Fly to the Rainbow as a singer, Rudolf Schenker on They Need a Million.
Album Cover
The cover of the album shows how the predecessor to the "classic " Scorpions lettering before a special, brand sign similar band logo was used on subsequent albums. The logo used on this album was the first time since then for the cover of the 2007 album Humanity - Hour I used. Uli Jon Roth was approached in 2008 in an interview on the cover and others of his time in the band and commented on it as follows: " Do not ask me what this cover means ... I did not like it from the beginning. It looked at the time of something ridiculous and today looks just as bad. It was created by a company in Hamburg, which really were delivering a good job in the Lonesome Crow album, but I think this time they have failed miserably. As to the meaning I can only guess, but I 'd rather not do ... " ( translated).
Tour
