Flying Colors (band)

Flying Colors is a progressive rock supergroup from Casey McPherson ( Alpha Rev ), Steve Morse ( Dixie Dregs, Deep Purple, Kansas), Neal Morse ( Spock 's Beard, Transatlantic ), Dave LaRue ( Dixie Dregs, Planet X ) and Mike Portnoy ( Dream Theater, Transatlantic, Liquid Tension Experiment, OSI, Adrenaline mob ) exists.

History

In 2008, producer Bill Evans put together a list of persons with whom he wanted to realize his idea of Flying Colors Mike Portnoy, Steve Morse, Dave LaRue, Neal Morse and producer Peter Collins, who already with Rush, Bon Jovi, Elton John and Jewel Kilcher had worked.

After the four musicians and Peter Collins had promised, the two producers began to search for a singer who could unite the different styles of music the band. Evans and Collins had already gone through a list of over 100 different singers, as Portnoy Casey McPherson suggested.

After nearly a year of planning, the first titled album with the band name was completed within nine days in January 2011. In November 2011, the album by Michael Brauer, who had worked with the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Coldplay, was mixed. Flying Colors was published on 26 March 2012. The band's name comes from Peter Collins. He told the musicians: "Gentleman, you passed with flying colors. " ( "People, you have passed with flying colors. " )

On March 16, 2013, the band announced that they had begun work on her second studio album. In addition, a live DVD was announced.

Press Reviews

Tony Conley of Rock Guitar Daily called the first album " an amazing album which has a huge number of musical genres covering " and " one of the best debut albums of a band they have ever heard".

The magazine Rock & Roll Circus rated the album with ten of ten points in the review, the album was described as following:. The Drummer Magazine chose the debut album of the month, even from rock gig it got very good reviews. Music Radar called the album " truly outstanding ", the Guitar & Bass Magazine described it as " an incredible album ."

Matt Collar of Allmusic wrote in his review:
