The Schönflossige snout barbel ( Epalzeorhynchos kalopterus, Syn: Barbus kalopterus, Epalzeorhynchos kalopterum ) is a freshwater ornamental fish from the order of carp -like ( Cypriniformes ) and comes from Southeast Asia.

Schönflossige snout barbels are 15 inches long and their life expectancy is about 5 years; the families of the snout barbels are indistinguishable to the naked eye. Schönflossige snout barbels are often confused due to the similar appearance with the Siamese trunk bar.

They are very sturdy and the attitude in the aquarium is well suited for beginners who breed but usually only succeeds professionals. They are algae eaters and can be fed with live or dry food. In the aquarium they are rather up in the middle to lower areas. The Beck planting should be plenty, but keep ready enough swimming space. In the aquarium should exist a strong current, but quiet places for the night should not be missed.
