FMA IA 50 Guaraní II

History of development

The FMA, which operated as DINFIA in the period from 1957 to 1968, decided in 1960 to build the first propeller- plane of Latin America. Using components of the FMA I.Ae. 35 Huanquero was the DINFIA FA 1 Guarani I. Its first flight took place on February 6, 1962. The development was named Guarani II instead of the double tail, the aircraft was given a new, strong gepfeiltes fin. Also, the more powerful engine Turbomeca Bastan VIa was used. The first flight took place on 26 April 1963.

The application was carried out at the Argentine Air Force and Navy as a troop transport, government machine, photo reconnaissance aircraft and.

The last flying example was taken in 2006 at the II Brigada Aeria in Paraná inoperative. It is in the Museo Nacional de Aeronáutica in Morón, Buenos Aires issued.
